Single-sided entry

The program forces you to balance your entries, so there's not a way to make a one-sided entry.  Although, you might be wondering now, how did it get out of balance in the first place.  There are a few situations that could result in this situation, and they are all easily fixed: 

• You may be printing a cumulative general ledger instead of a general ledger.  The cumulative one is actually date sensitive.  So, if you accidentally mis-dated a transaction for the wrong month or the wrong year, the report would show out of balance. • You made an entry to an account not on the chart of accounts.  When you make an entry to a new account the program prompts you to add it, but you can answer no to bypass the error.  The solution is described in this article: The General Ledger is Out of Balance.
• You made an entry to a departmental or divisional combining account.  If the company is setup with departments or divisions, and you make an entry to the "combined" account, that will throw the GL out of balance.
