Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. For more info, see our community discussion.

Shopping cart downloads - iif

Couple of issues...I am using Quickbooks 2005, and I am downloading sales info as Sales Receipts into a iif file from a shopping cart provided by SecurenetShop LLC. Products are all downloading properly. When downloading, shipping shows up on the invoice in the amount column, but for some reason, it is not included in the general ledger income account of "Shipping". Also, Shipping is always marked as non-taxable on the Sales Receipt screen after the import. I have set the item as taxable in QB and in the shopping cart settings. It just seems to fall through the cracks. This happens even though the Shipping item in Quickbooks has been assigned an income account (both the main item and the sub-item that is labeled FedEx or UPS). Sales taxes are also causing issues in that the liability does not post to the general ledger. It does show up on the invoice created by the shopping cart and the Quickbooks Sales Receipt, however. The Sales Tax Item name appears in the "tax" field on the Sales Receipt, but the rate is blank. Once I change the field to another sales tax item, I can change it back and get the correct answer and have it posted to the g/l. For customers that are subject to tax are also marked aas non-taxable even though tax is computed.Bottom line is that several manual steps have to be performed after the download to get the proper accounting treatment. Thanks for your help.

I've been doing some research on how to lessen the data entry for downloading a shopping carts information.

I've T-hub, which is a third party system, from Atundra.

I plan on using that inconjunction with my shopping cart information.

Our August 2007 issue of Intuit ProConnection revisited Shopping Carts and also includes discussions of IIF.

See "Helping Your Clients with QuickBooks and Online Shopping Carts"

"Cashing in on 1ShoppingCart.com et al. and QuickBooks" by CPA Sandi Smith focuses on this shopping cart that relies on IIF solutions.
Especially valuable is her list of resources which includes IIF tools from Intuit.

Finally, there is more discussion of IIF in the context of converting a client to QuickBooks in Part 2 of "Converting to QuickBooks: The How-To Guide " by Certified QuickBooks ProAdvisor Esther Friedberg Karp.
