Were the first checks of the year written in QB? If not, how did you enter the info?
We just started using QB, but want to go back and post all previously written payroll checks in QB, in order to have ytd totals, job cost records, etc. We want to start with a zero starting balance.



You have to consider how you have entered the bank info already. If the paychecks are accounted for as to bank account and expense accounts, you can't enter them as paychecks.
The Payroll Setup wizard provides a setup for employees and YTD data, and make sure to consider if you want the data to set up the Payroll Item values only, or also to "affect accounts."
