Important Announcement! A planned system-wide upgrade will take place over the Memorial Day Weekend in the US (From Thurs, May 24, 2012 at 6 pm PDT thru Tues, May 29, 2012 at 5 am PDT). This includes QuickBooks, QuickBooks Payroll, Point of Sale, & Salesforce.com. This is only for US based products. This does not affect QuickBooks Online customers! During this time, you can shop, but can’t place orders online, activate products or update account info. We apologize for the inconvenience & thank you for patience while we improve our infrastructure to better serve you. International versions are unaffected. For more info, see our community discussion.

Regardless of profit or loss, if there are 2 businesses, then 2 C's are needed.

Hail Cleo-Cat-Tra, Queen of Denial. I didn't do it.

For a professional answer you might want to ask this question of a paid support person at Intuit Tech Support (800-434-6818). Volunteers are not compensated or supported by Intuit.

The solution

Unless they are related, sole proprietor IE; in one he installs carpet and the other vinyl flooring, or in one he prepares taxes and the other does bookkeeping. Construction lines etc. Bad examples I'm sure but you catch my drift. in a case like that he could choose to combine or not. Even if they were exact same, could be two sch Cs. IE; two different cities or time frames, it would be a management decesion.
