Security Deposit - again!
How do I assign a portion of a tenant's security deposit to rental income or cleaning expenses? The security deposit was originally entered into a separate QB bank account (called Renters Deposits) and assigned to an Other Current Liability account for each tenant; I never use invoices or accounts receivable, as I have a property manager who does all that and I'm just keeping track of everything from a monthly statement my prop mgr sends me. I can clear out the bank account and liability account when a full refund of their deposit is made, but I don't know how to clear out the accounts AND assign a portion of the security deposit to any rent or damages owed.
