HOW DO I IMPORT DATA FROM A CLIENT BROKERAGE ACCOUNT TO SCHEDULE D?
HOW DO I IMPORT DATA FROM A CLIENT BROKERAGE ACCOUNT TO SCHEDULE D?

At this point, when I call technical support at ProSeries / Intuit they tell me it can't be done. This really surprises me.

The information at the following link provides a couple of options.
The option I offered is free, and the other costs $5.00. I've used only the free one (making the Excel printout an attachment to the Schedule D), but another responder uses the $5 3rd-party application.

I understand the issue is one of money. I believe that Intuit needs to pay thebrokerage firms for this information. On the consumer edition, they must have found it to their advantage to do so. Apparently not so with the ProSeries.
So, I suspect what counts is how many people complain how loudly.
(There is also a concern about privacy: on the consumer edition the individual enters their brokerage password. It would not be good security practice to give your tax preparer your password: I wouldn't want it, could I end up being responsible for unauthorized transactions on one of my tax clients accounts? The brokers would need to institute some sort of authorization process, which could be a pain...)
