You can mail Schedule A in as it stands however it is not ready for efile purposes
Beginning Feb. 14, the IRS will start processing both paper and e-filed returns claiming itemized deductions on Schedule A, the higher education tuition and fees deduction on Form 8917 and the educator expenses deduction. Based on filings last year, about nine million tax returns claimed any of these deductions on returns received by the IRS before Feb. 14.
That is from the IRS website. Do you really want to mail something that won't be started on until Feb. 14?
A nice lawyer told my client that she only made $35,000 then she should get all her taxes that she paid in back. And a lawyer is smarter than a tax preparer right?
Lawyers are always right -------------- if you don't believe me, just ask one.
IRS hasn't opened up efile for Sched A or other forms affected by Congress's late extension of the tax laws. The IRS said should be able to around Feb 14.

The form is ready but the IRS is not. You can prepare the form, but you cannot e-file it until the IRS is ready to accept it.

Thanks to everyone that submitted an intelligent answer to my question. And my apologies to all the other "eliteists" that think everyone should know what they know without asking!
