Sample file for 10.0?
QuickBooks Point of Sale : Pro 10.0
Since there are no sample files in v 10.0, can I make a backup of a sample file from a previous version and upload it to v 10.0 to use as a practice file?

Yes, definitely. The only limitation is that in V9, you could use the same server and run both "real" and "training" workstation at the same time. In V10, you either have to temporarily switch all your network to training or have a dedicated computer (server) for hosting the practice. This relates only to networked installation, if you have only one computer with POS, then your experience would not be different from V9.
The most difficult situation is when you do not have a computer to spare. For example, typical scenario is to have server at the register and a workstation in the backroom. To train somebody in the backroom, you'd have to open a practice file at the register, stopping all the sales. But the workaround would be to set up a virtual PC (Microsoft Virtual PC or VMWare) in the backroom and install POS on this virtual machine as a single installation). Then you will be able to run either "real" or "practice" modes in the backroom while not touching the register.
