Sales Tax Reports run out of memory

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows

Hi, I'm Roger, an engineer here at Intuit, working on QuickBooks.  This is just a quick note to say we are working on an issue reported here on this forum:

> Sales Tax Reports run out of memory

Specifically, these are the

  • Sales Tax Liability report, and
  • Sales Tax Revenue Summary report.

There are two ways they can run out of memory:

  1. If the number of sales tax items times the number of vendors exceeds one million, or
  2. If you have more than about a half million 'links' between transactions.

If you've tried running the sales tax reports and they have either failed silently or put up a message saying they're 'too complicated', you can press F2 to get the screen that shows, among other things, how many 'links', how many vendors, and how many items (though not how many sales-tax items).  If these numbers are around the values above, the reports may be running out of ram.

We hope to have a fix for these problems at some point, as we are actively working on them.  I'll post again when I have more news.  Thank you for your reports!

Roger
