Sales Receipts going to Cost of Goods Sold.
Why does the Sales receipt go against purchases, and how do I change it?

Check the items in the items list. The Expense account would indicate purchases & not COGS.

I am a little confused on this. I want the items that is on the sales invoice to go into COGS, but I end up with a credit balance on my P&L and don't think that is right.

- You need to go to your Item list (from the Lists menu)
- Locate the Item that you're using on the Sales Receipt and right-click to Edit Item.
- Change the "Account" field in the Sales section to an Income account.
