is it best to enter sales daily or monthly

It all depends on your volume of sales, and how often you wish to review them.  If you have a large volume of sales - i.e. twenty or more invoices daily, then record them daily.  You may wish to record sales weekly. What type of business is it?

Every place I have worked, we have recorded sales daily.

Depending on how many sales you make, I would at least enter weekly for now and then evaluate to see if you need to enter daily.
