I've read a lot on this site regarding Royalties. McDiggs is a publishing company with Authors that have more than one book. What is the best way to track the royalty due based on net profit? How do you link Authors with books?
I would set up the authors as items, then the individual books count be sub-items.
Setting up this way would allow you to run the sales by item summary report to see how many of each book had been sold for the period.

The simplest way is to buy an industry-specific program to wrap around Quick Books. Examples include Anybook, Dashbook, iPub, Jaya 123, and Publishers' Assistant.
If you're asking this kind of question, you would probably also be well served if you joined one of the industry listservs, or at least read my blog on financial issues for book publishers.
Marion, I'm so new at this I don't know how to find an industry listserv. I'm currently using QuickBooks Pro 2009 and therefore I've had to do some work arounds for inventory builds in order to capture all of the costs related to the books. I appreciate your help.
