Rolling back to R9 for "QuickBooks for Mac 2012

We released the R10 update for QuickBooks for Mac 2012 earlier this month.  R10 is signed with a certificate issued by Apple to ensure a smoother experience for customers under Gatekeeper's default setting. Unfortunately, there appears to be an issue that is preventing the program from accessing passwords stored in Keychain Access, the tool that OS X uses to store passwords and other sensitive information.   We recommend all users stick with R9 until we can find a solution to this problem.

If you're running Mountain Lion, don't worry; although you may see some issues associated with the absence of bug fixes included in R10, QuickBooks 2012 R9 is still usable.

Uninstall QuickBooks 2012 R10 and reinstall

1.    Uninstall QuickBooks

2.    Install QuickBooks from your CD or download QuickBooks 2012 R9

Important:  By installing a release of QuickBooks 2012 older than R10 on Mountain Lion, you may get an error during installation related to the new Gatekeeper feature of OS X.  Click here for steps to resolve the error.

Respectfully,
Bryan

What about the servier software?  Does that need to be uninstalled and re-installed so that it's notrunning a later version than the actual QB for Mac 2012 application?  If so, do you have a link to the server software install file?

Thanks,

Bob

UPDATE...Nevermind.

The R9 server install is part fo the R9 disk image that Bryan linked to above.  I just dragged the 2012 QB application and 2012 server application to the trash, together with the QuickBooks Plist file that is in the Preferences folder that is in main library (not your User library).  I did NOT empty the trash, just so I'd have an out if the R9 re-install didn't behave.  As mentioned, you have to go to System Preferences>Security & Priviacy and change the setting from "Mac App Store & Identified Developers" to "Anywhere" before QuickBooks will open.  NOTE you might have to click on the lock icon in the lower left and enter your password before it will allow you to make that change.  So far...so good.  :)

On a related note: I was surprised QuickBooks 2012 R10 did not remove the "back up to MobileMe" menu item. (MobileMe service ended on June 30th.) Would you please ask the developers to remove it in R11?

Also, I've noticed the QuickBooks tool bar and Home Page have been slower to appear after launching R10 than with previous versions.

Finally, wouldn't right-clicking on the "unsigned" R9 installer and choosing "Open" from the contextual menu allow you to launch the R9 installer in Mountain Lion without needing to change Gatekeeper's settings? As Apple puts it:

Manual override

If you receive an alert that an app is from an unidentified developer, you can still choose to install it. Control-click the installer or the application icon to reveal a contextual menu. Choose Open and you’ll see a dialog that allows you to install the application.

yes, you can manually override the gatekeeper settings.  The signing is to avoid having to do that.

Uninstalled and installed several times. Updated to R9 and didn't update. Try as I might, I was not able to convince QB2012 Mac (running OS X 10.8) to reliably create email invoices and statements in my email drafts. QB would indicate 39 invoices, and 11 statements were sent to email; but in email only four or five were actually created. I had to restore OS X 10.7.4 in order to have the "email forms" function to work properly. Incidentally, I had to get my billing out in the meantime. WHAT A PAIN CREATING ONE FORM AT A TIME! I now have my company file on a network drive, and one Mac running OS X 10.7, and one Mac running 10.8. When I see an update, I will test QB in both environments. I haven't seen anyone else with my problem, which really seems odd, the function is VERY IMPORTANT to me. Anyone else having this issue?

In RE: to myself, I just got off the phone with QB support. They were very courteous and worked through my problem methodically with me. They were able to replicate the issue on their end, and it appears to be a legitimate issue. Anyone who emails forms should keep an eye on this until the issue is resolved. My thanks to the support team for their confirmation of the problem, and their continuing effort to resolve my problem.

I am shocked that no one else has seen this issue. Possible the base of users running Mountain Lion is so small, no one else uses the email feature. Go figure.

We haven't seen this issue.  Maybe it has something to do with your company file being on a network drive?   what happens if you try it locally?

Since some of the invoices get through to Mail it sounds like an issue with Mail and AppleScript.  Perhaps a time out - which may have something to do with the file being on a network drive.

Copied my company file to the local drive. Same issue, no change.

Yes, we've confirmed this issue on Mt. Lion and it will be investigated.  The most likely scenario in my opinion is a change in Mail for sandboxing in Mt. Lion that has introduced a bug in Mail.   But we'll know more soon.

A new verison of R10 has been released today that uses a work around suggested by Apple to allow it to be signed and not have these problems.

The update installation issue has absolutely NOTHING to do with the "Email Forms" issue.

I installed R10.2 this morning BEFORE my call to support, and my issue remains.

R10.2 does NOT resolve the issue. The issue has been referred to the Development team for resolution. Please don't consider this issue resolved.

This thread is about the update installation - hadn't seen your post because of that.  I can confirm that QA can reproduce this issue.  Now whether it is a problem in QB or a problem in Mail I don't know yet but we'll investigate.
