Required e-filing of all payroll forms in 2011?

I have a question related to paper vs. e-filing of all Federal payroll forms. I am "hearing" that starting in 2011 all Federal payroll forms MUST be e-filed and paper returns are no longer accepted. I cannot locate any IRS regulations. THANKS! AE

I can't find anything on this either.  I have heard of mandatory e-file for federal income tax returns.  It is mandatory for next filing season for preparers with over 100 returns and in the 2012 filing season for over 11 returns.

Curious to see if you were able to do this? successfully? We have been not able to do this because when we register the IRS said the owner information does not match our CPAfirm info.

Thanks.

Thanks so very much taking the time to check on this pesky thing.      What I am going to do is get all my payroll clients set up 1) on EFTPS (which is a bit easier than going through the same function in QB in these particular cases) and then transition everyone to 2) e-Filing the Payroll Forms through QB.    If I cannot find exact wording in the "regs," I'm still quite assured that the "day is coming."     I live in Maine which is a small state and we're even having to do more and more e-filing of Payroll forms and Sales Tax forms.....    Much appreciation!     Anne

I know that the PAYMENTS are going to be forced onto EFTPS soon -- for all except the companies so small their liability is under $2500 per quarter, and they can still write a check with their 941-V coupon.  I did not hear that the FILING itself for most companies would be electronic, only the payment.

Back up before it's too late. For a professional answer, call Tech Support at 1-800-933-9999 (Lacerte)(other numbers ProSeries, QB, or TurboTax). I am a volunteer, not compensated or supported by Intuit.

Dear Amy-in-PA ~    Your answer makes lots of sense..   And, yes, I've had the sense that payments via EFTPS were coming upon us....   I'm very happy to know about how to handle that $2500.00 threshold, however and I'd wondered about that piece of it.   Thank you so much for your response;  most helpful!   Anne (Happy1912)
