When you import data into any database like QuickBooks your import file fields must match the field structure you are importing to. You can download a free kit from QuickBooks on building your own .iif file but that is only recommeded for advanced users. QuickBooks recommends you input data the old fashioned way. If you are trying to upload banking information to reconcile your accounts and/or upload banking transactions, read that section in 'help' and ask any follow up questions. Be sure to backup your data before attempting anything.
Risasmom,
Thanks for your reply. I understand your point , but perhaps I was not being clear enough.
In quickbooks I was trying to use a contributed report called "Largest Vendor Report" when I got the following message:
"You cannot import this report template as it is not compatible with your company file"
What I am looking for is a way to determine what is in the report template that is incompatible with my company file and maybe I can modify the report to fit my needs.
Hello again. I do not know of a way to determine what is in the report template. You will have to determine what you want your report to show and design your own report. Look at the available reports under Reports>Vendors & Payables. I hope this helps.

As an example, if you create a payroll report in the original company file and specify Name = John Smith and then export the report and import into another company file in which John Smith doesn't exist, you'll get that message. Any customization you did to the original report must specify data that is available in the second file also.
