That's a great question for your professional tax preparer.

Look at Schedule E

What tax software are you using?
I think tilt53 is trying to keep his/her "Tax Allstar" rating by sending a quick and unpleasant response to your question and to others as well. Just disregard and stay with forum and you'll learn from other tax professionals.
George - that comment is uncalled for. Sandy answers many, many questions on this forum; which is for professional tax preparers. The OP might be a professional, but the single question Michael has asked, and the complete lack of info in his profile leads one to think he isn't.
We are volunteers on this forum; we aren't here to provide, for free, advice to DIY as the knowledge we have is how we make our living.
It would be nice if Intuit would help by limiting access to the professionals forum, intead of basically sending every DIY that buys Turbo Tax here. So if we don't treat them as nicely as you think we should, sorry. We requested help from Intuit; but it isn't happening.
DANGER WILL ROBINSON! New sheriff in town.
I notice that tilt53 has answered approximately 7,400 more questions than George has. That creates a bit of a credibility gap, IMHO.
Preach on, Anna, preach on.
I noticed, George, that you did not answer the question. You just complained about someone else. Good move there.
TY for the support, folks. That question is Tax 101. If the OP has no education, then he needs professional help. George, get your AllStar status then we might care about your complaints.
Sandy, I am with you on this one.
BTW, exactly how does one obtain Allstar status?

It has to do with # of responses and quality. We don't make the determination - the moderators do.
Mrkay - while your intentions may be good, they are a little misguided. Unless you have been watching from afar without helping, you may not realize how overrun this place gets with TurboTax users and just general run of the mill DIYers. Since Intuit has ignored our pleas to put a fence up to limit this forum to only professional tax preparers, the regulars here in general do not have a burning desire to help those folks out. TurboTax has its own user forum and that is where those questions should go. From time to time professional preparers are mistakenly identified for TTers, but when the questions are so simplistic to make that mistake, I personally find it a little scary to have those folks out in public giving real professional tax preparers a bad name. So, until you have walked in our shoes, please don't be so quick to pass judgement.
Thanks. I was just curious. I had never seen anything about the qualifications.
Hi Folks
I'm the new kid on the block. I hold a BS in accounting, economics & business administration and consider myself as a beginner after just recently starting a very small tax practice in my retirement days (just to keep busy in my old days) . I did tax preparation for a few years in the early 1960's and then went to work in a major industry eventually becoming the Controller of same. I might say that I appreciated the assistance I received from individuals like Mt.Juliet, ArchieLeach, Charlotte, Essay & others. When I feel proficient in a certain area and online, I'll be glad to answer questions. My main point is the forum shouldn't discourage questions......if you feel like the question doesn't deserve an answer, act like a professional and don't answer. Someone else will.
You're missing the point. Sometimes the answer is to refer someone to a professional. Our job as volunteers is to assist professionals, not enable DIYers to complete their own returns. That's why there are forums for TurboTax and other self-prepared software.
Thank George....and there definitely needs to be more professionalism...even on my part
