Remote BarCode Scanner for POS

QuickBooks Point of Sale

My client is using POS Pro V10 and is planning a bridal registry via the Layaway workaround.  She would like the bride to be able to walk around with a scanner and have it either sync up with the Layaway either in real time or optimally once she is finished she returns to the sales associate and has all the canned items load up into a layaway.  Has anyone done this and if so, with what hardware?
