I've backed up QB 2007 Pro to CD for 2 years, and now it says I need admin permission. I am admin. Would it help to reinstall QB? Do I uninstall first? Could it make things worse to reinstall? QB is usable now, but the backup doesn't work properly.
It may be a windows permission error, not a QuickBooks error. Always important to know you have a solid backup.
You data is not affect with an uninstall and reinstall, as long as you do not delete the folders that QuickBooks installs into.

How do I check on the windows privileges? Also, when I do an reinstall, do I uninstall first? Would reinstalling be apt to fix the backup problem/administrator's permission problem?
I was given absolutely no help with the questions I asked about the process of reinstalling and whether it is likely to fix the problem!
I was able to get some help from Hewlett-Packard's free online chat support, and my problem of not having permission to back up in QuickBooks has been solved. Click Start, and then My Computer. Right-click the writable drive icon, and select Properties. Select the Recording tab, select Enable CD recording on this drive, and then click OK. This fixed the problem. I don't know how the "Enable CD recording on this drive" box became unchecked.
