I receive invoices from media outlets that I then pass along in my own invoice to my client. I invoice my client for full amount, but pay the media 15% short. Where do I record all of these transactions?
Did you ever receive a good answer to this question? I have a similar client.
You can do this by using "doubled sided" Items and then there are several ways to add "Markup".
1. Enter a default markup percentage in Sales/Customers preferences-then when you enter a cost price for an Item in a purchase QB will markup it up when you use that same Item in an invoice.
2. In Item list>Activities --you can select one or more Items and Markup the Cost [Unit Price] or Sales Price.
3. You can set your Item Cost price at $1.00 and the Sales Price at $1.15 and then when you change the Cost Price the Sales Price will change accordingly.
4. Use a Markup Item to add a % or amount after a Subtotal
5. Use the Markup Column on an Estimate Template and then Create an Invoice from the Estimate.
Try one or more of these out in a sample or test file and see which works for you.
