The solution

How to fix the problem:

This issue has been addressed in the latest version of QuickBooks Simple Start 2007. Click the link below to download your updated version of QuickBooks:

QuickBooks SimpleStart: http://quickbooks.intuit.com/d...

Use your existing License and Product Numbers to install the QuickBooks software:

If the "Installation Interrupted" error continues, please proceed with the trouble shooting steps below.

Detailed instructions:

Getting the error during install:

Install QuickBooks in Selective Start up

If a previous QuickBooks installation of the same year was installed on the PC:

Uninstall the previous installation.

Click the Microsoft(R) Windows Start button, and click Control Panel > Add Remove Programs.

Select the QuickBooks version needing removal, click Change/Remove button.

Click Next, select the Remove radio button, click Next and follow the on-screen instructions.

Reboot the PC and restart the installation.

Remove and re-install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1:

Windows XP

Click Microsoft(R) Windows(R) Start button, select Settings, and select Control Panel.

Double-click Add/Remove Programs.

Select Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, and select Remove.

Click Yes to confirm the removal of Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.

Windows Vista:

Click Start button, and select Control Panel.

Under Programs, click Uninstall a Program.

Select Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1, and click Uninstall/Change.

Click Yes to confirm the removal of Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.

Re-install Microsoft .NET Framework 1.1.

If QuickBooks is being installed from the installation CD, please follow steps 1 through 6:

Insert the QuickBooks installation CD in the CD-ROM drive.

Click the Microsoft Windows Start button and select Run.

Enter the CD drive letter (for example D:) and click OK.

(For Vista users: click the Windows button and type the CD drive letter in the Start Search field)

With the QuickBooks installation folder open, locate and open the ThirdParty folder.

Open the DotNET11 folder and double-click dotnetfx.exe.

After .NET has finished installing, double-click dotnetsp1.exe (or dotnet2003SP1.exe if you are using Windows 2003) to install .NET Service Pack 1.

If the QuickBooks CD is not available, download the .NET Framework 1.1 redistributable file and .NET Service Pack 1 file from the Microsoft download sites.

If QuickBooks is being upgraded from an older version, install it in a separate directory instead of upgrading:

Begin the installation normally until the Select Installation Folder window displays.

Select Install QuickBooks 2007.

Click Next and proceed with the installation process.

Check if System Mechanic is installed on your computer:

There have been issues installing QuickBooks on a computer that has System Mechanic installed. In these cases, it is recommended that System Mechanic be updated with Iolo's latest definitions. (See System Mechanic product documentation for steps on updating the program.)

If you are still unable to install QuickBooks after updating the definition, System Mechanic will need to be uninstalled before installing QuickBooks.

If you are unable to download the newest release of QuickBooks:

Verify that an Internet connection is established:

Restart the computer.

Open a Web browser and browse to a site that you know has content.

If the Web page displays as expected, run the QuickBooks installation. If the installation is unsuccessful, proceed to the next step.

Temporarily disable the network adapters:

Click the Microsoft Windows Start button, select Run, and then enter devmgmt.msc in the Open window.

(Vista: Click the Windows button and enter devmgmt.msc in the Start Search field.)

Select Network Adapters to view the networking hardware.

Right-click each network device and select Disable.

Select Yes at the prompt.

Close the Device Manager window.

Install QuickBooks.

Re-enable the network adapters:

Click the Microsoft Windows Start button, select Run, and enter devmgmt.msc in the Open window.

(Vista: Click the Windows button and enter devmgmt.msc in the Start Search field.)

Select Network Adapters to view the networking hardware.

Right-click each network device and select Enable.

Close the Device Manager window.

If this is the only QuickBooks installation on the computer:

Uninstall QuickBooks.

Rename the four folders (Windows 2000/XP), or five folders (Windows Vista), and type Old in front of each file name. See KB 1004383 - Performing a "clean install" or "clean uninstall" of QuickBooks

Reinstall QuickBooks.

Internal notes:

DO NOT DELETE THIS KB. PLEASE CONTACT SARAH CORNING FOR MORE INFORMATION.

From Internal Notes:

Please have the QuickBooks_07.log file zipped and emailed to technical@intuit.com.

To find the file:

Click the Windows Start button and select Run.

In the Open field, type %temp% and click OK. This will open your computers temp folder.

The QuickBooks_07.log file is located in this folder.

The file will be very large, please compress (zip) the file before emailing it to Intuit technical support.

Right-click the file and highlight Send To.

Click Compressed (zipped) folder. This will create a file called QuickBooks_07.zip.

Email this file to technical@intuit.com.

HP Utililty intereference:

If the customer cannot download and install the latest QuickBooks version, follow these steps to manually disable the HP utility and install QuickBooks:

Right-click the Microsoft Windows task bar and select Task Manager. The Windows Task Manager opens.

Click the Processes tab.

Select the HPZTSB0#.EXE process ("#" will be replaced with 5, 7, or 9).

Click the End Process button.

Click Yes in the Task Manager warning window.

Locate the Install.exe file, in the QuickBooks program folder. The default location is: C:\Program Files\Intuit

Double-click the Install.exe file. The Amyuni Document Converter window opens and starts the installation process.

Click OK.

Restart the computer.
