How can i stop Quickbooks 2012 premier from asking if i want to install upograde R5 when it has already installed

First, make sure that it HAS been installed. Open QuickBooks, press the F2 key, look at the "revision" info at the top of the window. It should say Release R5P.
If it does, take a look at this article, it might help: http://www.sleeter.com/blog/2011/02/stopping-quickbooks-automatic-updates-from-installing/
Note also that Intuit just released the R8 version this week (it isn't an automatic update, yet). http://www.sleeter.com/blog/2012/03/quickbooks-2012-r8-released/

Be careful here there has been an update that corrects a known bug in QB 2010 and its tied into the new tax tables and it does not seem that the people who do this realised that there is already a R5 update and called this new update R5 as well.
This is evident when you try and update and get the Error #15203
You have to manually download and run the patch then its ok.
