Because there's no serious competition at a lower price.

Because Intuit can get away with it, that's why.  Every year it gets worse.

Well Liz,  If you could sing and dance (maybe you can) and people were willing to pay a $1000 to watch and listen.  How much would you charge?

Like we are using Lacerte for ENTERTAINMENT value - lol I wish

I think her point is since we have been long time users we feel it's a HUGE leap to change software and thus feel a bit taken hostage to the continuing steep prices increases.

Come to think of it, there is some entertainment value on mailed in organizers sometimes.  "Where do I deduct the tax I pay on cigarettes"? I got a chuckle out of that one.

There will probably come a time when Lacerte will push just a little too far, and a lot of people will walk.  It may be a pain to change software and go thru a learning curve, but as some of my PA colleagues have written, the pain of the learning curve is only once, but the savings by switching to a company like Drake, last for a long time.  Who knows, if Lacerte pushes too far, I may join those colleagues next year.

Back up before it's too late. For a professional answer, call Tech Support at 1-800-933-9999 (Lacerte)(other numbers ProSeries, QB, or TurboTax). I am a volunteer, not compensated or supported by Intuit.

 Well said Amy,

I will definitely take a very hard look at alternatives to Lacerte this year, as I always do, we'll see whether we're chatting on a different forum in 2013.  I had a look at Intuit's other product last year (ProSeries?) and was not impressed at all.
