Quicken vs Quickbooks

I was unaware that Quickbooks (by Quicken) was different to Quicken (also by Quicken). It's a really confusing product line-up for a prospective new customer. Quicken/Intuit/Reckon (whatever they call themselves) seem to have multiple overlapping products:QuickBooks Simple Start Plus Pack 2008QuickBooks Pro 2008QuickBooks Premier Editions 2008QuickBooks Enterprise Solutions 8.0QuickBooks AccountingQuickBooks EasystartQuickBooks PlusQuicken starterQuicken deluxeQuicken premierQuicken home and businessWhat is the difference between the Quickbooks and Quicken product families? Is there an easy way for a prospective new customer like myself to make a sensible purchase decision? Thanks

They are compleatly different animals. Quicken is basically a glorified Checkbook register. It's really designed for the home user to keep track of his or her own finances. I haven't used the business Quikcen, but I beleive it's only desinged to keep track of a fairly small home business.

QB on the other hand, is for businesses. It keeps track of all your business finanaces including receiveables, payables, taxes, employees. It tracks all your purchaces and sales and breaks them up into categories so you can see what areas of your business are making money and what arn't. It can run a full battery of financials including balance sheets and income statements. It's like an accountant.

As for an easy way to decide...are you buying it for yourself or for your business.
