QuickBooks Pro 2010 does not detect Outlook 2010 Beta
Hi Cariboptical,
I am on the QuickBooks team at Intuit. We have done preliminary testing on Office 2010 compatibility with QuickBooks 2010 and haven't found any major issues.
Could you elaborate more on what you mean by QuickBooks 2010 not detecting Outlook 2010 Beta? What are you trying to do in QuickBooks when this happens?
Look forward to your response.
Thanks.
Himanshu
I am having the same problem, since I uploaded the 2010 premier version. Anytime that I try to email documents, Quickbooks just hangs and windows seven ends up closing down Quickbooks because it is not responding. As we email all our sales documents, I need a solution to this problem asap. Can you help ?
Hello SWC001,
Please provide the following additional information that will help us in finding a solution to this problem:
1. What was the mail option set in Preferences -> Send Forms when this problem occurred ? Was it Web Mail / Outlook / QuickBooks Mail ?
2. Did you try sending mail from Invoices / Estimates form ? Or did you try sending mail from File -> Send Forms ?
3. What version of Outlook is installed on your system ?
4. Is it possible to attach a screenshot image of the Preferences -> Send Forms ?
Thanks
Please read question in 1 above as:
1. What was the mail option set in Preferences -> Send Forms when this problem occurred ? Was it Outlook / QuickBooks Mail ?
I am testing Office 2010 and can't seem to get Outlook to integrate. The message I get when trying to send anything is "You must choose a profile first to use Outlook to send email..." When I choose yes nothing happens.
I have verified that the profile is setup, all defaults are set correctly, and that the account is working order. The panel to choose the email profile to use does not show in the preferences - forms section.
Any solutions are much appreciated.
We have similar issue with QB ES 2010 and Outlook 2010 Beta. Also each time PC restarts says that QB cannot sync to E-Mail client. Outlook is set as the only e-mail cleint in program defaults
We have same problem and have a couple of customers that have installed the Office 2010 Beta with the same results.
W have the same issue with Quickbooks Enterprise Solutions 10 and Outlook 2010 Beta under Windows 7 64 bit
We just installed the QB premier 2010 and I am having a similar problem when generating an email from invoices. When I try to email invoices I'm asked to "create a profile" and when clicking "yes", nothing happens. I spent over an hour with Quickbooks on the phone and was told it is an Outlook issue (I'm using 2002 Outlook). I spent an hour on the phone with Outlook and was told its a Quickbooks issue. I'm confident its a problem with Quickbooks, because it was only after updating Quickbooks to the latest version that this has become a problem. There are other problems as well.....when creating an "open report balance", reports that should be "closed" remain listed - even if they are 3 years old!!
Any solutions would be appreciated. How do I create a profile? Outlook is already my default email....
I am going through the same problem and it's frustrating. I upgraded to QB Pro 2010 from EasyStart 2009 on my Vista machine and now I cannot email invoices. It keeps telling me it cannot find Window Mail.
Never had that problem with EasyStart.
Similarly, QODBC does not function with Excel 2010. When retrieving data from a QuickBooks company file, Excel returns an error message. If you open the ODBC applet in the Control Panel and choose to Test Connection to QuickBooks, the process also returns an error message: Error 80040408.

Hi I am from QuickBooks team at Intuit.
Do you have your mail preference set to outlook in QuickBooks?
You can select Outlook manually by using menu option "Edit => Preference => Send Forms" and select Outlook radio button.
Outlook will appear in "My Preference" tab if you have a outlook profile created.
Could you please share OS, number profiles info, if it does not work out?
I too have upgraded to Outlook 2010, also using Quickbooks 2011. For a while, I could email invoice via Outlook. A few days ago, I kept getting the same message saying I needed to set up an email account. Looking at my Preferences>Send Forms and guess what, the Outlook radio button is gone. How could it just disappear. The only choices I now have is Web Mail or QuickBooks email. I had to set up a gmail account which I don't like. With so many people having the same problem, you would think that someone has found a solution......like a Pro Advisor. Help Help Help
Star2010: You shouldn't piggyback on a discussion that isn't directly related. This one was about the Beta version of office.
In any case, in your situation - that happens sometimes. Try doing a "repair" of your Office installation. If that doesn't bring back the option, then a "repair" of your QuickBooks installation. What happens is that the registry entry that tells QB that Outlook is there sometimes gets messed up or deleted (not sure why, might be something outside of QuickBooks doing it). The "repair" (through your control panel) usually, but not always, resets that and brings back the option. This has been mentioned in a lot of other discussions...
Start2010: Did reparing Office installation and/or QuickBooks installation help in resolving your issue as suggeted by CCRussell? Since your configuration was working fine for few days after QuickBooks installation, do you remember any significant activity such as installing/uninstalling any other software on that machine before you encountered this issue../Thanks!
I have reverted to Office 2007 as I was also experiencing issues synching my Blackberry with Outlook 2010.
"You can select Outlook manually by using menu option "Edit => Preference => Send Forms" and select Outlook radio button. "
QB 2010 does not have that option. Not in mine at least.
We'd actually like to used AOL email like we have in the past not Outlook but are getting that message that we are not connected to Outlook
I have been having this problem as well. QB 2010 will not see Outlook 2010 to email any type of document.
Has anyone have a workaround? Something so easy as sending an invoice is now a problem.
