Quickbooks Pro 2010 - Can I choose a default purchase order template?

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows : 2010

Quickbooks Pro 2010 - Can I choose a default purchase order template?  I've gone through the preferences and don't see any option, maybe I'm blind.  I've gone into the template list to try to adjust any options within the template itself and I don't see the option.  I don't think it exists but QB used to open PO's with the last used template.  This is no longer the case.  Please help me it is very frustrating.

You are correct. QB will open to the last template you had saved in the transaction type unless the the template is broken. You can tell by record a transactaion with a different template and reopen to the same type of the transaction.

Hope this helps.

Hi.  Thank you for the response but as I said QB used to open to my last saved template.  Used to.  This is no longer the case.  Any idea what I can do to revert to the old way?  I've looked in all the menus I am aware of.  It really is a minor inconvenience but very frustrating when I create 20 PO's in a day and each time have to choose a template.

Ok.  I found a usable solution.  Since there appears to be no way to set a default and QB chooses which template to use by alphanumeric order (A-Z, 1-9) I renamed what I want as my default PO template as "A Purchase Order" that way it appears first in the list.  I had some trouble figuring out how to rename templates.  If anyone has this problem and wants to know here's how.  Go to Lists at top --> click on Templates --> double click or right click, edit the template you want to rename --> Top of screen you will see "manage templates", click it --> top right of screen you will see your template name, change it as you will click "ok" and you are good to go.
