Quickbooks patch for Window 7 users (Quickbook Pro 2008) Error 6777,0

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows

RE: Quickbooks PRO 2008

Is there quickbooks web patch for Window 7 users for Plan Quickbooks Pro 2008?

On my Windows 7 computer, it keeps on showing error 6777, 0 and have tried every method it says but the problem is not solved.

I was later noted that it is due to windows 7 as operation system in my computer.

Can I download the quickbook patch for winodw 7 so I don't have to buy new quickbooks to use?

Please help me if any one knows the solution to this problem except telling me to buy new multi-user Quickbooks PRO 2010.

Thanks in advance.

Thank you Amy for your help.

The error I show when I try to open old file, it says

Error " -6177, 0

QuickBooks cannot us the path to open the company file.

How do I resolve this?

And I tried to click on resolve but it does not link to anything.

Can this be solved? It seems that Windows 7 is having strong security block system and since I am really not good with computer stuff and I really do not know what is causing this problem.

The error message indicates that I need to update Quickbooks so I did as it says but it still does not work.

Please, please help me.

Hi Trisha1978.

Thank you for posting your question on the forums. I hope to see you come back and answer a question for someone else. Currently the only version of QuickBooks that is supported on Windows 7 is QuickBooks 2010. Click here for more Windows 7 information.

However, some users have been successful with installing and using older versions of QuickBooks on this operating system. If you elaborate more as to when you receive your error and if there is any verbiage around the error, there may be other users who can help you with this. Be as specific as possible (steps taken before receiving the error, what you've tried, etc.).

I hope that helps,
Amy

It seems the problem is due to my OS which is 64 bit, not 32 bit. Trying to find out if I can change the OS but I really don't think it's good idea.

Hope Quickbooks make patch for their products that will be compatible with new OS on already owned service rather than making us to buy new version to have it work. T_T

I'm not at my 64-bit Win7 PC, but there are two folders on it:  one for 32-bit and for 64-bit applications.  I *think* the 32-bit is called Programs or Program Files while the 64-bit is called the same thing but with (x86) after the name.

Officially you'll need Quickbooks 2010 or newer to run on Windows 7 64-bit.

But I was able to get Quickbooks 2008 Accountant Edition running on Windows 7 Home Premium 64-bit by right-clicking and changing the properties of 4 or so different QB files like QBW32.EXE.

  • Right-click the file Quickbooks file
  • Click on properties
  • Select the Compatibility tab
  • Click on "Change settings for all users" (button is on the bottom)
A new window should pop up
  • Check "Run this program in compatibility mode for:"
Select "Windows Vista (Service Pack 2) in the dropdown list below it
  • For good measure also check "Run this program as an administrator"
