It's working on something -- creating a report, etc. Is your file large? Hit F2 (or Control+1) to see the file size. Also, do you have enough RAM?
That file isn't too large. There are no specific limits to file sizes. Do you have a lot of items, names, etc? Do you have a lot of other programs running at the same time? Do you reboot your computer periodically (that helps)?
This particular company data goes back to 2000. THere are a lot of names, etc. And usually I do have several programs open. That being said, I moved this particular company to another computer with nothing else on it and nothing else running and get the same message.
with that many years of data, there may be some data file integrity problems. Go to File > Utilities > Rebuild Data.
You may want to get QB Pro 2012 (on sale for $100 right now -- details here: http://longforsuccess.com/2012... ) to use the improved condense feature. Then, you can create a new file with just the last year or so of data in it. You can keep the old file to refer to as needed.
