QuickBooks is Back Up But How Did You Get Along Without It?
QuickBooks Online is Back Up as of 18:05 EDT.
So how did you do without it? DId you close your doors, shut down your site or did you make provisions to work without QBOE? You know, if you have to run QBOE just to unlock your doors, maybe you have the wrong program! Maybe you should be running QB Desktop versions, but what if you loose your power for an extended time? Or what if your IP looses a main trunk or what if the three biggest IP's loose multiple pipes? Now you cannot get onto QBOE and what will you do now?
Well, if you have Microsoft Office (Excel) or Open Office (Calc), you can build a simple invoice in about 20 minutes. Then you can use your PC and one of the programs above to run your business for a day. You can print out a blank and use it if you have a power failure. What? Manual Entry??? Yes, amazingly enough, you can actually use a pencil, pen or crayon and actually fill out an invoice and when the power comes back on, you can enter everything in QBOE.
That is exactly what I just got through doing. I entered everything for my wife's business for the last couple of days in Open Office Calc and I just got through posting into QBOE. Look, if you are going to use "cloud" based systems, you have to come up with a work around because you are responsible for your business, not Intuit. QBOE and QB Desktop is only a tool which, if it breaks or becomes inaccessible must be done without or you will loose clients.
If you do not have MS Office or Open Office, you can buy an no-frills invoice pad and some receipt pads from someplace like Staples. This will allow you to operate your business until access problems are resolved. My wife operated without QBOE because we were prepared in case of local power outages. Now from the looks of some of the posts, it appears that many of you users had a couple of days off because QBOE was unavailable. I sincerely hope that you all have realized that "cloud" computing can and does fail and you can sit there and cry an complain or you can get prepared because this will happen again. Remember, not only Intuit has failures, you local power company can keep you off line for days also!
Open Office is free and can be downloaded at >>>>>>> Open Office Download
