Quickbooks Enterprise and Windows 2003 Server

I have a copy of Quickbooks Enterprise 7.0 that i run on a window 2000 advanced server. The system has been compromised numerous times in the last couple of months. I was going to purchase Windows Small Business Server 2003 when i noticed it does not support terminal services. All the accounting software resides on the server and 3-4 people need to use the software at the same time. Does anyone have any suggestions on what version i should use, or what i can do?

Hi,

What I do for my customer is this:
Windows Small Busines Server 2003 then I add another computer P4,2GB Ram with Windows Server 2000 as the Terminal Server, this way, the WIN2K server will use the licenses of SBS2003 and I don't risk the real data server with any remote user.

This setup has been working for me and my customers with a lot of sucess, obviously the Win2K server does not have the GUI of the 2003 server but that does not affect QuickBooks at all.

The SBS2003 is hosting the database with 15 users and so far everything is OK.

Good luck with your setup.

We use enterprise 2007 and sbs 2003 r2.

We only use the server as a file server. Our qb database is on the server only.

We use server 200 before with very minimal problems.

SBS 2003 works better with almost no issues and no issues so far with Quick books. We have benn running it for about 6 months with 5 computers and the server. About three of them are active at all times.

so you install quickbooks on every computer that uses it and the software connects to the database?

I have a customer that uses Server 2003 Standard Edition. It allows terminal services and everything is on one box. This works best for us.

Hi,

May i ask you one thing, as you are accessing your QB enterprise 7.0 installed on server from 3-4 locations/ clients through terminal services. Are you consuming multi user license for QB Enterprise 7.0 for your 3-4 users or just one QB Enter 7.0 license.
