QuickBooks Detailed Seminar Help
Has anyone used the provided training materials (Lessons 1-15) for a seminar/class? I would like some feedback to see how it went, how long, price, etc.

I have taught Intro to QB for the local SBDC almost every month for the past 9-10 years. We provide the seminar attendees with the 15 lessons and the qblesson file on a CD for them. Then they can choose to print it out or not--or just print the lessons they need.
I don't teach all 15 lessons in the Intro class--there simply isn't enough time. I focus on the most common tasks applicable to all businesses. For example, we have a separate 2 hour seminar on payroll.

I have been doing the Intro to QB for the SBDC as well, but I do not charge for that one. Do you charge for yours? And would you charge for the 15 lessons one?

The SBDC charges the seminar attendees & I get paid by the SBDC. The Intro to QB seminar is 2 - 1/2 days (hands on) and I think it is $179 or $189. The payroll seminar is 2 hours, Intermediate QB Workshop (3 hours), Intro to QB for Contractors (all day), and QB POS (half day).

Ohhh, I didn't know you were referring to the Lessons one as the Intro. Let me clear something up, I do a 1.5 hour Intro Class that I offer to the SBDC. This detailed class I have been approached to do a 4-hour class at the SBDC. I figure I would choose 5-6 lessons to go through and offer a part-two if there was interest.

You mentioned in your previous comment that you offer a 1.5 hour Intro Class. Can you provide more insight as to what you cover in your Intro Class? Thanks.

I teach an 18-hour course "Basics of QB Pro" using that Learning Guide. I don't teach all of the lessons; we don't have Sales Tax in Montana. I don't teach the payroll lesson or inventory lesson in the Basics class. I teach payroll as a 6-hour focus class and I teach inventory as a 3-hour focus class.
We have two labs with 12 computers plus the teacher's computer is hooked up to a large flat panel TV, so it is very hands-on. I teach three or four sessions every quarter, even Summer. There is always a waiting list, too.
I think, if you teach from the powerpoint screens, you would only need half or two-thirds the time. I allow time for us to get lost, mess up, and ask questions.

Thanks for the information. Sounds like you have a very good sysem in place. I am contemplating offering classes to existing clients as well as potential clients. I think I will start with an Intro QB class using some of the lessons and the power point presentation. Thanks againg for your assistance.

Randy A- The 1.5 hour Intro Class that I do is a power point that used to be on the ProAdvisor site. It's called Fundamentals of Financial Management. It goes through a lot of cash flow and shows screen shots of QB and how it helps. It's a great class for people that are thinking of buying quickbooks or have started their own business.
