quickbooks 2012 wont open after update

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows

We just upgraded to qb pro 2012 and everything was fine until we updated to release 3. Now we can not open our file unless we revert back to what came on the CD. We also have this problem with R4. Support seems clueless and say because our company file is larger than 300mb we should upgrade to enterprise, Keep in mind our files work perfectly fine on the CD release of qb 2012.

We have tried to restore a backup and it wont open either. We can open sample files and create new files. What is weird is we can still open this company file on another computer running quickbooks that has not been updated to r4 yet.

I know that our file size is more than intuit recommends but did they put a hard file size limit in the new updates?

 

UPDATE 11/29/11 : I have tried everything same thing happens on other computers but we can always go back to cd version and it will work. We have wasted way to much time on troubleshooting and since the problem is identical on other computers and other windows platforms it is likely an issue with our company file and R4 the question is why in the world does it work with R1. We will wait for next update to see if that fixes otherwise we are stuck on R1 until either it gets fixed by intuit or we switch to another accounting system. We have been with QB since the very first version years and years ago. Unfortunately when you call for support they want to charge you and then proceed to try to sell you their other products. My bottom line is if I can open the file in R1 I should be able to open it in R4. We have also rebuilt, verified and now the file size is 190mb but same problem- but not even an aknowlegement from Intuit that there is a problem.

i'm having almost the same thing happen and Support has no clue. As soon as I am asked what file name to restore to, QBks shuts down. THis is really starting to irritate me as I am unable to do anything without a company file. I have done all updates and fixes that I can think of.

I just read that someone who had a problem installing R4 was helped by the installer tool.

Did not help me at all. In fact, it kept shutting down sporadically.

 It does not appear to be an install problem because we can open a sample company file with R4 no problem.  The company file has now been  restored, verified, condensed and rebuilt  it is now 190 mb and will open with 2012 R1 but will not open with 2012 R3 or R4. We have tried different computers, different locations on the computers, Holding down alt while opening, everything conceivable yet no solution.
