How can I keep an account from showing in the 'account balances' screen on the home page of QuickBooks? 2012 shows accounts recievable and payable, and I don't want them there. Conversly, there are some to show that do not... Like line of credit..

Adding username log ins with selective access rights is one way to control what you are asking. Woneill is correct.
Another is, stop using this part of the Home window and use the new, smarter, Company Snapshot. This sometimes is referred to as a "dashboard" and allows you more control than you have with the Account Balances peephole.
Thank you. If I limit my access by limiting it in the user rights area, then I cannot get to those accounts at all. I just don't want to see them in the window.
I use the window to easily open the accounts to edit with the new transactions... The snapshot window gives more info than I really need on a daily basis. I just hoped there was an easy way to opt an account of the window...

You cannot customize the Account Balances window.
You can customize the Snapshot window.
