Quickbooks 2010 crashes and "stops working" when I close it. Why?

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows : 2010

Why does quickbooks crash when closing the application? I am using a newly built Windows 7 computer and have installed Quickbooks 2010 Pro which has updated itself to the latest version. Ihave all the latest Windows Updates.

When I close the application, I get the Windows dialog indicating that the program as “stopped working”.

Any ideas?

Yes, I’ve reinstalled Quickbooks twice trying to resolve this issue.

Press the F2 key or Ctrl and 1 keys and look to the right of the product for the release number (R number). The latest for 2010 is R7

That isn't really an answer, just indicating how to check your latest version.

I am using "QuickBooks Pro 2010 Release R7P" which is the latest and I still have this issue.

Details

- Windows 7 Ultimate

- AMD 6 Core, 64 bit

- 600 GB free disk space

- 6 GB RAM

- Running QB in Admin mode doesn't help

 From another board/forum:

"We've been hearing about this from people for the last week or so and have walked a few folks through the fix.

It seems to be related to a June 23 Windows .NET update. Depending on the version(s) of .NET you have installed it might be called kb982524, kb976576, or kb977354.

You can go to add/remove programs, click on show updates, and scroll down to .NET 2.0/3.0/3.5 and remove the updates listed above.

Then you might change your Windows Updates setting to 'download and ask' mode so it doesn't automatically install them again and recreate the problem.

Hopefully Microsoft and Intuit will get their heads together on this and resolve it pretty soon."

Yea, well, this isn't an option.  Being someone who heavily uses .NET anyway (development), uninstalling .NET is out of the question.

Others...be aware that uninstalling .NET as described above may cause other programs to stop working and you may end up worse than where you started.

beamersrq,

I checked my Installed Updates through Control Panel's Programs and Features and I don't have any of those KB's applied.  Any other ideas?
