QB's shuts down when it detects Outlook Express.

QuickBooks Canada : Pro 2012

QuickBooks Pro 2010 will not stay open with outlook Express installed.

I have had QB's for years. I have used QB's WITH Outlook express as long as I can remember. About a month ago when I opened QB's I got an error that says " Outlook Express could not be started. The application was unable to initialize the store directory. Your computer may be out of memory or your disk is full. Contact Microsoft support for further assistance (0x80007114)"

I click OK and get "To free up disk space, Outlook Express can compact messages. This may take up to a few minutes." press ok again. Then I get QB's has experienced a problem and must shut down.

It opens and gets to the main page but once in it seems ok. Once I select anything the error appears.

If I uninstall and install microsoft outlook it works fine but I hate that email program!
I would like to get OE back since it has been working fine over 2+ years.

QuickBooks is not designed to work with Outlook Express, but it works fine with Outlook. Also, you can try running CCleaner (the free edition) to clean-up the computer program and registry files.

Well it has worked flawlessly for the past 2 years. That is where the confusion is. How can it work fine for years then all of a sudden have issues.

I don't have an answer for you on that. Apparently the USA version has no such problems, and perhaps you had a certain amount of luck. This is an issue that you would need to complain directly to Intuit about.

I have exactly the same problem.  I installed QB 2012 a few months ago and until recently I was able to send invoices and other QB documents through Outlook Express with no problem.  Then suddenly it did exactly was you have reported.

I reinstalled the program but it did not correct the problem.  The problem began about the same time as I used Stamps.com through QB.  I don't know if the problems are related but so far it appears you and I are the only ones with the problem.  I'm temporarily using the Quickbooks email but I don't like the fact I have no record of transmission unless I send a copy to myself.
