You have to be enrolled in QB payroll which requires a monthly or yearly fee. In addition to the tax tables, you will get the current forms. If you don't pay for the module, then you have to do the calculations manually which means knowing when the percentages change.

QB desktop payroll is not cheap but it can be one of the least expensive methods depending on the number of employees you have, whether you do direct deposits and how much time you save each quarter/year on preparing your reports.

Try this: Go to your payroll item list. Right click on each item to edit them and overwrite the amounts in there. Some may not let you change them. For those you can change, that should help calculate the amounts correctly.

If you still don't get the right results, open each paycheck as you are creating them and manually change the amounts to what they should be. As far as I know, all amounts can be manually changed, employee and employer.

All my payroll clients pay for the yearly payroll so I am not experienced in all the steps needed to fix the issues when the payroll subscription is not up to date.

Latest post

You can not change the SS Employee rate or the PA Withholding rate yourself.
They are maintained in the payroll tax tables and can only be updated if you have an active payroll subscription.

Without a subscription, you will have to calculate the amounts and enter them yourself, overriding the QB calculated amounts, at the time you create paychecks.

I hope this helps. Let us know by clicking the "This Solved My Question" button or post back with more information.
Thanks.
