QB Pro 2010 Installation problems. I get a message that "Third Party components are not found".

I'm trying to install QB Pro 2010, it starts loading the installer then says that it needs to be restarted. Once I click OK, then it restarts and comes back with "Third Party components are not found. Installation will be interrupted." What do I do?

I'm running Windows 7

Make sure that you COMPLETELY disable any anti-malware software.  I was having the same problem today with Norton Internet Security.  I right-clicked on the Norton system tray icon and Disabled Anti-Virus Auto-Protect, but that wasn't enough to get QuickBooks installed.  I had to open Norton and disable EVERYTHING.  Well, I probably didn't have to disable everything, but there were seven components and it was easier disabling everything than figuring out which was the culprit.

Hope this helps!

The answer does not fix the problem for me.

I have completely uninstalled the Norton internet security. I have run all the latest Windows updates.

Still the same problem. Third party components are not installed. The install process will be interrupted.

I have a client running into the same problem ... would be nice to know what 3rd party stuff his installation disk is missing.

Here's what worked for me:

Disable all security software such as Norton's Internet Security.

Open the Quickbooks folder on the installation CD

Double click the quickbooks install file

NOTE: everything will look good but quickbooks will not actually run

Use your Control Panel as if you were going to Uninstal quickbooks, but select REPAIR instead.

This will load everything quickbooks needs to run and it should all work perfectly afterward.

I figured this out during my 45 min wait with tech support.  Their solution was to copy the entire Install CD onto my hard drive and run the install from there.

I hope this helps as I spent hours trying to find an answer.

I had the EXACT same problem running Windows 7, but found a fix thanks to a comment another member made.

1.  Create a folder on your C: drive and copy contents of QuickBooks 2010 cd to that folder.

2.  Double-click on QuickBooks "Set-up" in newly created folder on C: drive.

3.  QuickBooks 2010 installs without a problem on Windows 7.

Good Luck.  So simple.  Why can't they save us hours by telling us?

Thanks so much!  What a easy fix and fast also.  I am running Windows 7 64 bit and it installed no problem after I did what you suggested.

I had the exact same problem.  This worked for me!  Thanks so much!!!

I asked QB installation support if this is a commonly-encountered problem. I can't believe they insisted I have to sign up their technical support program before they could assist me.   Thanks for saving me time and $$!

I had similar issues. I am running Windows 7 on a new computer and have McAfee Antivirus. I tried turning off the antivirus protection and restarting the computer but that didn't help. My computer wouldn't even recognize the QB cd.

What I did to resolve this was put the QB cd into my other computer running Windows XP, copied the contents of the QB cd into a new folder and then copied the new folder over to the new computer via jumpdrive. Once on the new computer, opened up the folder, double clicked "SETUP" and was good to go from there.

Hope this helps anyone having the same issues.

I found that nothing worked to install QB on a Windows 7 computer.  I copied the CD to the C: Drive and installed, no good.  I copied it to a network drive and installed, no good.  Then in a final fit of frustration I left the "Install shortcuts of goods and services" box checked and Bingo! everything worked perfectly, so I must assume that "Third Party Components" are all those annoying icons and applications for ordering checks, etc., etc, and that QB10 will not install unless you agree to install all the garbage with it.

Oh, well, that's what uninstall and the delete key are for...

This is a known problem with the early CD versions of QB 2010 (at least some CD versions - I think mostly ones that went out via retailers). The third party components may be Microsoft .NET components, Flash, and things like this. It doesn't necessarily mean annoying things that you don't want. In fact, I don't know of any annoying things that are loaded from that folder (I could be wrong, just didn't notice any after a quick look).

The workaround, if you haven't gotten around the problem, is to download an updated version of the install program from http://support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/pages/knowledgebasearticle/1006369 . . . . . . . . . . This works formost people

It is important to download the proper product that matches what you have on the CD. The product codes on your CD will work with the matching download product.

Hello Charlie,

I am not sure if you are still checking this, but I did download the link and it is freezing and not allowing me to fully install.  Thoughts?
