QB Pro 2009 - working with Bank of America yet?

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows : 2009

In trying to activate online banking for Bank of America in California, I receive error OLSU-1013.  I see older questions on this topic, and responses indicate it was expected to be resolved in early 2009.  What is the current status?

Hi Donna - yes, I did. But it references Quickbooks 2008 and that a fix was possible with update R5 for QB 2008 and recommends using the most recent version of the program.

Since I am using Pro 2009, I didn't know if that was still the best approach to try.  Is it?

Thank you, Michelle

Yes, I would use these same steps.
You get the same instructions even if you indicate you are using QB Pro 2009.
I think its certainly worth a try!

Please reply to let me know if it solves your issue - or not...

Thanks!

In Windows XP, I searched for fidir.txt   I received 5 items, none of which have a TXT extension as described in the instructions.  They have no extension.  Three appear to be related to Quicken, and 2 related to Quickbooks.  One of those two is in a Doc & Settings file, and the other is in Program file.  Do I add the OLD extension to one of those?  Since there is no txt to replace it is not clear.

Then I tried right clicking each to see if I get the "Save Target As" option, but I don't.  The one in the Program file asks where I want to Extract to...?

Besides the instructions being unclear, it seems ridiculous to me that QB Pro 2009 has not managed to fix the program to interact with an institution as significant as Bank of America.  Especially when this was a topic of complaint over a year ago.

If this truly is what I need to do, I would very much appreciate any clarification you can offer regarding locating the "fidir.txt" file as well as the "fidir.txt link" as described in the instructions.     THANK YOU!

I have other clients importing from B of A without a problem.
It has to be something on your system...I'll try to help you here,

When you look at your Chart of Accounts do you see a lightning bolt next to the B of A bank account?

Also, do you have a business or personal type account with B of A?

Thank you, Donna!  I am encouraged to hear you have clients importing from BofA.  I found so many posts with similar problems that I had pretty much given up hope.

I am trying to import credit card activity from a personal Visa to Quickbooks.  No lightening bolt shows as it will not activate the account for online activity.  I get to the point of entering my online ID and passcode, and after a few moments of processing I receive the error.  I do import credit card activity from both Citibank and Chase, so this issue is specific to Bank of America.

The information I have found when searching the error code seems to indicate a problem with the list of institutions, yet when I look at the list I see Bank of America and the information seems to match what I find online at the BofA site.

I truly appreciate any suggestions you can offer!!

Here are some other discussions on this issue, have you looked into these ideas?

 Another suggestion:

"Try these steps out,
Note: backup data first before doing these steps
1. disable online banking if there are any bank accounts with online banking
2. Create a new bank account
3. Rename the old bank account with what you named the new bank account with.
4. repeat step 3 for all available bank accounts.
5. Setup online banking.

***Note: If above steps does not work, try to setup your bank account on a new or test file to check if its a problem with the bank or a problem within quickbooks itself. "

Yes.  I have tried all of the above.  I have also contacted Quickbooks Support and had their representative attempt to correct the fidir file in case I had done in incorrectly.  Now they are saying I should contact the bank.  Thank you for your responses.  If I get any additional info from BofA I will post that.

I know in the past some banks did not have the .QBO file format option available on personal type accounts needed to download into QuickBooks, only a Quicken format. (I guess they think that only businesses use QuickBooks, not sure.)

When you check with B of A be sure to let them know this is a personal account that you are trying to import information from into QuickBooks.

Your comment is correct - Bank of America confirmed that personal Visa accounts are not set up to download transactions to Quickbooks (only Quicken).

Not the answer I was hoping for, but at least I can stop trying to make it work.

Thank you!

Bank of America confirmed that transactions on a personal Visa cannot be downloaded to Quickbooks (only to Quicken).

Hi AYB1,

Thanks for confirming this information and sharing with the Community.
This is not the first time I've encountered this issue; Bank of America needs to know that many small business owners use QuickBooks to track personal activities as well. This limitation seems unreasonable to me.
