First make sure you are on the latest release R10, quickbooks>about quickbooks. From mail>preferences confirm that mail is still your default e-mail reader. Credit cards, there is another thread with the same issue, best bet is to call merchant services. A workaround for the credit card processing could be to log in directly to your merchant account.

Spent much of the day looking into this and similar issues.  This is an Apple bug in Mountain Lion that effects applications signed with Apple's Gatekeeper developer ID (something that Apple requires for a downloaded application to run without a warning).

The bug is that in Mountain Lion applications signed in this fashion are unable to access items in the system keychain.  QuickBooks stores user passords, merchant account information, banking log in information - all confidential passwords - in the keychain.

Because of the bug in Mountain Lion none of these things will work.   Other applications signed in this manner are also effected (including SkyDrive from Microsoft and probably more that you will read about shortly).

In the meantime, the workaround is to reinstall the R9 version of the QuickBooks Mac application.   We'll pull the R10 version until Apple fixes this bug.  I've got to work with support to make the R9 version accessible.

I'm having a failure to connect to the Keychain with saved passwords for online banking accounts. Prompts everytime. Deleted and re-added accounts, still getting the same failure. Are you suggesting we downgrade? Any idea how to do this?

This is the Mt Lion problem I mentioned - inability to use the keychain.  (It may also happen on Lion if you have turned on Gatekeeper, but we are 100% certain of that yet - that's a hidden option requiring command line trickery so its unlikely to impact you).

The best bet is to reinstall the R9 version.  We will be publishing a knowledge base article with a link to that version, if we haven't already.

I'm having the same problem with QB not accessing the keychain, but it seems like more of a hassle to uninstall R10, and reinstall R9 on 4 Macs plus the server software, then to just enter the passwords until it gets resolved.   Do you have any idea when Apple will be fixing the problem?

I'm not sure you can reenter the password for all keychain items.  It doesn't work for the merchant account token I know, at least on the systems we tried.  All keychain access is effected: online banking passwords, user passwords, merchant account tokens, etc.  There are a lot of them.

The error messages appear in the system.log which you can check in the console application.  Although it says the client is invalidly signed, the signature is actually confirmed valid.

I have no idea what Apple will do.  We are trying to find a workaround but I don't know if we will. Until then, going with R9 if you are on Mountain Lion is the easiest solution.

You could also find the Keychain entries and give access to all programs (its on the access tab).  That will also work, but then you are opening up your keychains to all programs, which I wouldn't recommend.

Is this a problem under Mountain Lion only? Or also under Lion?

Now my QB which has been updated to 2012-R10 does not work with the QB Server. Where can I find a manual download of the QB Server?

What a mess...

Uninstalling QB in Lion as per the instructions in the link is different as there is no Library folder in your Home (Username) folder, to get to the Preferences folder.

I just used TimeMachine and got back to my earlier version of QB2012-R9.

The libary folder is there but it is invisible in Lion (Apple hid it in Lion).   However, you shouldn't have to change anything in that folder.  Just replace the application should be fine.

The 10.2 update was released to address some of these issues, no need to roll back to R9

So, did 10.2 fix bulk email handler issue ?

Want to go to Mountain Lion soon, but can't cripple QB (more).

Its an Apple bug in Mail in Mt Lion.  I don't believe it is fixed in the latest OS version.  We have figured out a way to work around it and will release a patch when we can.  Until then best to send emails invidually from QB on Moutain Lion.
