QB 2010 R5 cannot open qbb from Windows
A new problem for me with the R5 patch that was not present through R4: QB 2010 R5 will not open a data file saved from QB Windows (via the Windows File > Utilities > Copy Company File for Quickbooks Mac... command).
The generated MAC.qbb file was produced from a file that was verified with no problems on QB Windows and has been in use for many years. Rebuilt even in case that would help. I have been using QB Pro 2008 on Windows and thought that perhaps converting my data to QB Premier Accountant 2010 first (which includes deep verify) might produce a better result by saving from the Windows 2010 product, but I get the same errors. Here is a screenshot of the message i receive after most of the data seems to have been processed by QB 2010 Mac R5.
One other time, I got this other message:
![]()
Opening the Mac Console app and filtering for Quickbooks2010 messages, I have the following error entries:
12/27/09 8:36:39 PM QuickBooks 2010[1731] File Error: /Volumes/Build/QuickBooksBuildSystem/Stage/Projects/DoubleShot/QuickBooks/Code/convert/QBLegacyDoc.mm 562 NSInternalInconsistencyException +entityForName: could not locate an NSManagedObjectModel for entity name 'nextGIKey'
12/27/09 8:36:39 PM QuickBooks 2010[1731] File Error: /Volumes/Build/QuickBooksBuildSystem/Stage/Projects/DoubleShot/QuickBooks/Code/convert/QBLegacyDoc.mm 562 NSInternalInconsistencyException +entityForName: could not locate an NSManagedObjectModel for entity name 'nextGIKey'
error userInfo:{
NSLocalizedDescription = NSInternalInconsistencyException;
NSLocalizedFailureReason = "+entityForName: could not locate an NSManagedObjectModel for entity name 'nextGIKey'";
}
Separate issue - but as long as I'm looking at the Console logs... I should note that under normal operations with QB 2010 Mac R5 I get a bunch of "reference count underflow" error entries in my Console log, too. Verify/Rebuild does nothing to eliminate these.
