Yeah, but the browser goes churn, churn, churn. I added a second "tab" to my browser, and while the first one was churning, I looked at 5 or 6 posts from the Lacerte Community! And to add insult to injury, the W12 apparently isn't up on their website. Where you get it to do the gee-dee thing by hand, G-d only knows!
From my Thomson Reuters daily bulletin today -
RIA Newsstand 9/28/2010:
Paid preparer identification number application form no longer on IRS website:
In last Thursday’s Newsstand e-mail 9/23/2010, we carried an article about the new Form W-12,IRS Paid Preparer Tax Identification Number (PTIN) Application, that had been posted on the IRS website. The IRS said that the form would replace Form W-7P,Application for Preparer TaxIdentification Number.A day or two after our article appeared, the IRS removed the Form W-12 from its website. Now, when you click the link to the form (http://www.irs.gov/pub/irs-pdf...) you are taken to a note that says the form will be back on the IRS website soon. The IRS web page calledReturn Preparer Regulations - Getting Startedcan still be accessed at http://www.irs.gov/taxpros/art... view informationon the new rules.
