PT of Sale QBB file compatibility w/QB Premiere?
Can a QB Pt of Sale back up file be opened by QB Premiere version, assuming both are currently supported by QB/intuit?

In simple, NO. The two files are entire different. QuickBooks can not read a POS file and POS can not read a QB file.
The POS HQ store performs a 'live' update with QuickBooks during financial exchange, this is an interactive process in which the two programs communicate and send data not a 'file'. While POS remote-stores send a little 'exchange' file and receive a similar file between themselves and the POS-HQ, but QB can not even read that file.
Presently I am not even aware of a Proprietary Utility Program that will import a POS Data file into QB.
Sorry this wasn't the answer you were most probably wanting to hear (well Read really). Nevertheless, if it answers your question, please mark your question as "Solved".
Best of Luck !

I do have one idea for you - you can 'download' a free trial of QB POS and restore your QBPOS Backup copy to the free software. Then you can go into POS and map the POS to the account structure of a new QB file you set-up; then run a 'financial exchange' from POS to QB for the entire accounting period (the whole year) if you want. Once you have done that all of the POS data will be in that new QB file.
What your new QB file will not show you is any manual transactions that your client had posted to a QB file if they had one, but if there only transactions were in POS, then you would have them all.
Once again, best of Luck !
