Proseries Training

ProSeries : 2008

Does anyone feel Like they have stoped supporting Proseries and concentrating all of their efforts on Lacerte. Last I called I do not even have a sales person for my area (MIAMI) any more. They have done away with the some of the add ons to proseries. Where is the annual Update Seminar they used to offer every year? Lacerte's seminars have already been oferred and are full. I called today to try to get an answer and was on hold for 25 minutes then they hung up on me. Maybe it is time to find another software before it disappears and leaves us all hanging. I would like for someone who knows what is going on to give me a answer.

I don't agree, but only because Intuit tech support has been terrible forever. But I rarely need it any more, and I'll go to almost any extreme to avoid making that phone call. I don't think it's any worse this year than usual. If it makes you feel any more secure, some of my colleagues who use Lacerte are afraid that their software will be dropped in favor of Proseries. ~Chuck

Most of the users know more about the product than tect support. I agree with Contributor

I suspect that ProSeries has a high turnover rate among their Tech support personnel. I have been with this program going back to the days when it was ChipSoft (89). The past 3 years been terrible with support.

Jeff,

I might be able to add some perspective to this, but cannot speak to the support side as I'm not aware of any changes over the last few years. I am a training Program Manager here at Intuit and work closely with the person resposible for ProSeries training plans. We initiated live seminars years ago and had flat attendance year over year at around 1,500 participants. It proved to be a poor use of resources since our penetration was so low. Last year we opted to move the Update Information to the web and had over 6,000 participants. We determined that for this audience, web adoption was high and seemed to be the best avenue. Lacerte audiences are slightly different in that they have had live seminars for way longer than the 12 years I've been with the company. It will be a slow(er) migration for them, but we will eventually have a much stronger web offering for that group as well. We reduced the availability down to 10 cities this year, and even then not all were "full." We are late getting the web updated (proseries.com) as the program manager has been out on medical leave for months now. We are contracting to get the work done, but it will still be a while before it's complete. For that, my apologies. Hope this helps - at least from the "training" perspective.

Bill

Bill,

Thank you for your response. It just seems like they are really pushing lacerte a lot and it seemed to me like eventually they would merge the two or all togeather cancel one of them. I have never had problems with support and have always had a sales rep and now there was no new training so it appeared as if there was somthing going on. Thanks for your help.

To Lacerte Guru. (I THINK) Many of the people giving tax advice are upset at the poor questions in this community. They think they should only be answering questions from professionals, as they bought the program because they are professionals and they can not believe these questions are coming from people who know nothing about taxes. The question level is often below that of people who have any knowledge of taxes. Because of this they can be rude and crude in their answers giving any who sees their replies a very poor image of ProSeries and all the people connected with ProSeries. Is there some way you can get the Intuit Community people responsible for this communication link to show first time users how to use the program, how to ask questions and is there any way the people responsible for this communication link let the people answeering the know what kinds of people are asking these questions . (The answerers need to know if these people are first time users, and not professional tax preparers, but untrained people using proseries basic with perhaps little knowledge of taxes.) I think if they knew these people asking questions are not professionals, but people paying for one tax return at a time, with little tax knowledge they would treat the people asking questions with more respect..

While I am at it. Since the subjects (the listed question) are often not related to the real question, it is very hard to productively use these as a guide to if the question has been asked.

Can the place where people are asking their questions and then listing the subject communicate the importance of an accurate subject heading (and the purpose of an active subject heading.

It is 2/27/2009 and still there is no training posted on the web for the 2008 Proseries. I have new employees who would have loved to take these courses/webinars. Somthing is up with Proseries if all of the support and training is being provided to Lacerte users and not Proseries users. I am still waiting for the ability to e-file Florida Corporate returns and nobody in technical support for Proseries can tell me when the update will be available. I am sorry to say it feel like they are getting ready to pull the plug on Proseries and make us convert to Lacerte. I have been using proseries since 1993 and this is the first year I can truley say I am disappointed. Hopefully it is only a 1 year problem that gets corrected.
