ProSeries Express Discontinued
I just received a letter from ProSeries stating that they are discontinuing the ProSeries Express product and will not be offering it for Tax Year 2007. This is very distressing. Now the price for the ProSeries Professional software will more than double for our tax office. We are networked and the only other product - ProSeries Basic would not work. Using the pay per return option would end up costing more than purchasing the parts we need outright. We are a small tax office and ProSeries Express was reasonably priced. It made a lot of sense to have three different ProSeries products because one size does NOT fit all. Now, we are back to having to purchase the expensive Professional version like we had to do 4 years ago before Express was available.What really bothers me is that 4 years ago after having tremendous problems with the database, we were told by technical support that the Express product would be a better fit for us. We still had problems with the database in Express, but not quite as significant as before. Now what will happen? Has the old product been improved, or are we going to to have to spend several thousand dollars to get right back to having the same database issues?I would have appreciated an explanation as to WHY ProSeries Express is being discontinued. While I realize that this was obviously a business decision, a more thorough explanation would have been nice.
