Program closes after entering journal
Why does creating and processing a journal close Quickbooks down
Why does creating and processing a journal close Quickbooks down

Do you mean a journal or a journal entry? Do you get any error messages, as it is critical that I know them?
You may have less than 10% of hard drive space on your QuickBooks data or C: drive (it should be 20%+) or too little main memory (1g minimum preferred). You also may have an error in memory, which you can test by switching memory chips and seeing if anything changes.
It is, however, most likely data file corruption. Test this on a different system if you can. To fix corruption, File, Utilities, Rebuild. If Rebuild does not fix the problem, look for errors by using the F2 function key, then the F3 key and then File Open the QBwin.log file. Then do a ^F search for error. Fixing such errors is often not hard if you follow the procedures on my blocktax[.]com QuickBooks Errors page.
Hi Mike. What I mean is when you go ->Company -> Make General Journal Entry. Then once entered and you hit either "save and close" or "save and new". I have run a rebuild to check for any corruption and there was nothing.
We are running our Quickbooks through a server and prior to switching to Quickbooks 2008 and now 2009 everything had run perfectly.
My computer is running windows XP SP3, 3.00GHz, 3.24GB RAM, 300GB capacity with 242GB free.
I opened the QBwin.log file and it is a really ancient log dated 2006. There is nothing newer than 23.08.06 which seems odd because the errors should be recording themselves somewhere.
