How do I keep date on return fixed when I print copies after filing? When I
print copies of previously filed returns or invoices the date on the return or invoice is current one. How do I make the date freeze as to the date I efiled or mailed return.
I don't know if ProSeries uses the same setup as Lacerte, but in Lacerte you can put a negative number by the date, and that freezes the date. In Lacerte, in a field which I believe is in the "invoice and letter" screen, there's a field called "return date" or something like that, and you can put "-040410" to mean 4/4/10 stays forever as the date.
Amy, I know Lacerte is a more expensive software, and therefore it must be better, but what does a -1 have to do with anything in reality? Programming?
I prefer that when I enter a -1, it means minus 1, not zero, or freeze date, or whatever. That makes absolutely no sense to me. I can not ever foresee buying Lacerte, even if it was cheaper than PS.
Yes the -1 is programming.
Lacerte uses -1 to indicate various for dates, zero for the number, and to fix the date.
Override. I use the Client Status for all dates, so if I need to reprint a copy I look at that, then I override the date on the return before printing.
Depends on your need for this. Is it just one to 20 returns or do you want them all forever locked into their original date. I close program and change computer date on right hand side of windows. Open Proseries and program thinks it is 4/04/10. This way 8879, 1040, invoice and state returns are all 4/04/10. Remember to change date back after printing.
