Printing Filing, Client, and Preparer copies at same time to different loca

I am really going hog wild now! To ask that I be allowed to 'multi-task' in Proseries is to ask to go to heaven, but here goes. I want to print a PDF of a clients preparer file to a backup on my server at the same time I print his client copy for his file, and if nessary a hard copy filing copy, all at the same time. Is this possible with a single command. If so where do I do the configuring to make this occur. Thank you all for your support!

I think that what you are asking for is not a limitation of Proseries but a limitation of the operating system. You can not print a report to more than one printer at a time. You have to print multiple times to get to multiple printers.

I was incorrect on part of my previous answer. Last night in ProSeries I was able to print to my printer and print a PDF at the same time by clicking the boxes at the top of the print box.

In "Create PDF" from "File" - last year it was one click after you had identified the folder you wanted the PDF in - this year - even with the PDF box checked - I must change the defined printer to a PDF printer to get the Create PDF copy. So it takes - 1) Create PDF, 2) Change Printer 3) ID folder and then hit print & then of course you must chanhge it all back to regular printer, etc. to regular print - Last year it was ID the folder and hit print and you are done.

What am I doing wrong.& Oh by the way x- ing the PDF box will not get a PDF unless I change the printer designation to a PDF printer - where is the benefit in having this box to check??!!

I always batch print my PDfs from the Home Base. Once I setup the Preparer's Print version (I like to save the status sheet) I then batch print returns that have been completed.

If you want to batch print from within each return itself, it appears that you will need to print the taxpayer copy to the forms printer, then uncheck that copy and check the preparer copy and PDF box.

I guess I do not see the problem. If I open a tax return. Press print the print dialog box opens. I then click PDF (the client return is already clicked). It prints a hard copy of the filing copy and print a PDF copy to the 2006 Propdf folder.

The only thing I do not like about printing all at once is that works if you want the same copy to both print to paper and print to PDF. I print the taxpayer copy to paper and the preparer copy to PDF, so I have to do them separately. I prefer batch printing all PDFs at once since it saves time and saves switching the printer each time.

Thanks for the input - but I am not getting the same result at all.

If I mark Print & PDF, I only get print. If I wnat a PDF I have to change the printer to be used to my PDF printer and check PDF only.

I thought this should have worked like last year "Create PDF" got you a PDF when you hit go and you did not have to go in and change the printer designation. You only had to do that if you were doing a PDF of a particular form Etc.

I am talking here about getting a historical PDF of the return to my folder system by pointing to a client folder and hitting yes to print the Create PDF copy - sorry not explaining it very well at all - really no problems last year - why now?

After several hours of working with Proseries technical support on the phone I am completely unable to create PDF with Proseries. This is quite a problem for me. I have been using PDF for distant client return delivery and efile signature page delivery. Now, after several hours of work I think my computer is back to where it was before the technical help. OH DEAR LORD! Did they put all of their software development resources into DMS and neglect PDF functionality or did they hit PDF in the head so that you would buy Document Management Services?

I've tried cutepdf.com and it doesn't work. Instead of creating a pdf it prints.

I've tried reinstalling the tax software with no joy.

I've tried reinstalling my printer software with no joy.

I am downloading a 30day Adobe Acrobat Professional version 8 to see what more punishment I can meter out for myself.

Proseries you owe me a fix or a refund.

This works every time for me!!!

When ready to create PDF:
Don't select "create pdf" from the "file" drop down menu
Don't select "File (PDF)" in the Proseries Print Center

Instead: select "print" in the file drop down menu
select your stand alone pdf software or microsoft office document image writer (on my system from day one) from the box: Printer, PDF, and DMS Setup.

Then, quite simply, select "print" from the file drop down menu.

Both stand alone software programs I've tried, cutepdf (free) and pdffactory (free trial) open boxes, along with other open programs on your computer, where you find your new pdf files.

Microsoft Office Document Image Writer puts your new, emailable, image files in My Documents.

I hope this helps.

Don't waste your time wi
