Printing Customer Job List like in QB '05

US QuickBooks Pro for Windows : 2008

I want to print a Customer Job List that looks like what I was able to produce when using QB '05. In '05 customers' information would be listed in a block format and I can supply an example. In my example there is the customer name and address on one side and phone numbers, additional addresses and other contact info on the other side.

Exporting to Excel does not give me the desired format.  I don't want the information to be displayed horizontally like this: Name, Address, Phone number 1, Phone number 2, Contact, Alternate contact. Es no bueno.

To my knowledge, this is not available in the newer products.  The only report that I know still prints in this format is the memorized transaction list.  You can purchase the ODBC driver through Flex Quarters and create the list in the format you would like in Excel.  If we can assist you any further, let us know.  www.quickbooks-consulting.com.

I think this type of layout has been moved to Customer Manager now, which isn't part of QB but is a separate product.

QB Master Denise & qbteachmt,

Thanks for your suggestions.  RIght now I'm working with Mail Merge in Microsoft Word (export Customer Contact List from QB to Excel, then open Excel file with Mail Merge) to get what I want and it looks like that will work out well and not require any new software.

Thanks.

Mail merge works directly with QB, you don't really need Excel as the go between. If you know mail merge well, you will like using the Company Letters functionality found in QB. It acts as an Add-in to Word. Use Company Menu > Prepare Letters with envelopes, and the explore the functions for creating or converting your own documents to be QB mail merge documents.

I think this would be wonderful, if you create a .dot to use the standard QB fields (none of your custom fields), you  could submit this to the Intuit library.
