Exactly what input do you have? I can't reproduce that problem - my dummy return with nothing but a name, EIN, and a checkbox in the "Taxpayer chose to file return on paper" box produces an appropriate 8948 and opt-out statement.
i have the box check for form 56 not being supported by software. i also try the opt-box and the form still won't print automatically. i'm in the fiduciary module not the individual if that makes any difference.
No, I was doing it in the 1041 as well.
Form 56 isn't supported by the IRS, and goes on paper with the 8453-F, per the diagnostic. That return is e-fileable as is.
I think I figured it out - you need to uncheck the Fed e-file box in Screen 1. But before you do that, you need a better reason than the Form 56 to not e-file. :)
ok, now how do i get the client letter to address 8453-F instead of 8879-F?
Preparer's e-file instructions say "It is not necessary for the taxpayer to sign Form 8453-F when using a paperless e-file PIN."
Client does as normal, signs Form 56 and returns it to you with the 8879-F, and you handle the e-filing and mailing of the 8453-F + Form 56.
Likely no change in letter needed, but Screen 3.2 Custom Client Letter lets you make any changes you feel are appropriate.
