POS to Storefront
What is the official date that pos to storefront support will end? This is going to create a mojor problem for our business. Do you have any suggestions for a work around? Thanks, Scott

We do not have an official date of discountinuation. The Point of Sale version 8 will discontinue sometime in the future, and it's possible that live support for the storefront may end as this normally happens when a product is discontinued. Intuit will notify all Storefront customers in advance of any discontinuation.
Hey Eric,
Thanks for the update.
When the integration ends, we can adapt to manually entering our webstore sales into our pos retail system. Our main concern is keeping the pos item list and webstore item list updated and mirrored. We are constantly updating descriptions, changing prices, adding and deleting items, etc. on our pos item list. Is there a way to export/import the updated item list (daily or weekly) from POS to storefront.
Our pos retail store and our webstore are the same business. However, we cannot run our retail business from the webstore program because there are many business functions not available on the webstore program (work orders, purchase orders, sales orders, end of day, multistore, etc.). How are other retail businesses that are not synced with their webstores overcoming these obstacles?
Thanks,
Scott (Wet & Wild Pools and Spas)
Scott, I don't directly support Storefront in my current role at Intuit, so I am moving this thread to our main POS forum to see if we can get some input from our other Storefront users.
There are several third party providers that can provide you with an online storefront compatible with your current POS.
You can view them at the Marketplace link here:
IA has great synching so all your items are not sync'd redundantly, only the ones that need to be sync'd. IA was the first hosted ecommerce shopping cart solution available for QB PointOfSale and one of the first for QB pro/pre/ent. It has many features others lack since it's totally dedicated to QB users and noone else... like items that mirror your size/color variations in pos w/o any setup work for you and many other things. It may be the only one that works w QB price levels and has many excellent features for wholesalers and b2b as well.
One problem is often that shared hosting solutions are under powered. Another problem is many solutions sync all data every time instead of just differentials.
You can get a powerful fast RackSpace hosted Virtual dedicated server with IA Modules. 100,000+ items are normal run of the mill clients. Shared servers simply often lack the dedicated cpu and ram to get syncs done fast. If you run an ad campaign or get publicity you can easily scale your servers power and compared to other solutions you can stay at 2seconds per page load time versus slow 40 second load times w shared servers others offer. slow pages mean % of shoppers simply leave.
It also can run multiple stores w/o multiplying your workload or bill so you can explore niche markets and save money on advertising w more focused stores that rank better. It also may be the only option for wholesalers with a true live link ability to quickbooks, aka not only the cyclic qb web connector though that can be used too. Additionally, the IA support team will even remote desktop to your pc to help with problems which is a length few if any companys are willing to do and critical when you get a new pc or have a problem and just need it to sync...w/o reading a huge manual or paying a consultant for help.
you can see the listing in the marketplace
