POS 10.0 General - Z-Out Drawer Count Renamed

We lost our memorized reports for our POS1 and POS2 Z-Out drawer Count the other day when we updated to POS 10 Release 12. A mistake was made while trying to re-create these reports and the master (General) copy of the Z-Out Drawer Count report was accidentally renamed. I wasn't here when it happened, I was trying to walk the person through the process over the phone. The employee that actually renamed the report cannot remember how they did it.

I've looked, but cannot figure out how to get it back to the correct name (the report is correct, just the name is confusing). Does anybody know how I can fix this?

The first thing that you want to do is to go into that report. Then when in that report click on the "I want to" button located at the top left hand corner of your screen. From there click on manage my reports. Click on the report you want to rename and then you will see a button below called rename. Follow the steps and you should be good to go.

When I do that all I see are the memorized reports and My Reports. This is a General report, the default one. I couldn't see how to rename it.

You aren't able to change the name on the default report. More than likely you would have generated a z-out report and then saved it under a different name. Follow the same process in going into the report that you need and then click on "I want to">Memorize report>then enter the name that you want to appear for that report.

This is the only way that I know you can customize the name or heading on a general report.

Agree with jd, I cannot duplicate this issue of changing the main/default report's name. Double-check if it is changed here: From Top menu, main screen - Reports>Cash Drawer>Z-Out Drawer Count - is it this name or something else?

When I go to Reports—Cash Drawer these are the reports that are shown:

X-Out Status Report

POS 2 Z-Out Drawer Count

Z-Out Store Close

Payout List

I want POS 2 Z-Out Drawer Count to just say Z-Out Drawer Count.

I’m with you, I had no idea you could change the name of the “master” copy. I’ve tried several times, but all I get is a new report under My Reports, which really isn’t what I’m trying for. The person who managed to do this has no idea how they did it and I doubt that they’ll be able to figure it out again.

It’s not life or death, but it is confusing (especially to our weekend staff) and frustrating knowing it can be changed, because it is, and not having a clue how to fix it.

The solution

I would try these things, in the listed order:

Try a repair installation of your software through Windows Control Panel.
Try the "Reset program to original appearance" option in Workstation Preferences
After backing up your company file, try a new test company with nothing in it. Still the altered name? If so, we would try completely uninstalling POS, renaming the folders, reinstalling POS, restoring your data backup: support.quickbooks.intuit.com/support/Articles/INF12573

Thanks... Honestly, I'm not sure I really want to try those, they are pretty scary to me. Considering this isn't a daily operating problem I'll just live with it. Thank you for the help!
